You can use the emergency release to manually disconnect the opener, but be aware that a door with a broken spring is very heavy — usually 200+ pounds without the spring's counterbalance. Operating it manually is a safety risk. We recommend leaving it and calling us for same-day service.

However, if the spring failure caused damage to other property — like a door falling on a car — the damage might be covered under your policy.
